GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2)

Evidence Tier: Phase 1-2 Clinical Data — GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide GH secretagogue that acts on the ghrelin receptor. Approved in Japan as a diagnostic agent for GH deficiency.

Overview

GHRP-2 (D-Ala-D-betaNal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) is one of the earliest synthetic growth hormone releasing peptides. It is a potent agonist of the GHS-R1a receptor and has been approved in Japan under the name pralmorelin for diagnostic use in GH deficiency assessment.

Compared to Other GHRPs

Unlike Ipamorelin, GHRP-2 can elevate cortisol and prolactin at higher doses. It also stimulates appetite through ghrelin receptor activation. GHRP-6 has stronger appetite effects than GHRP-2.
